Instructions
Prepare Pan and Topping

Preheat oven
Preheat the oven to 350°F.

Grease pan
Lightly grease a 13 by 9 inch glass baking dish with 2 teaspoons of the butter.

Make crumble topping
In a bowl, combine the sugar, flour, cinnamon, and butter. Cut-in and mix until it resembles coarse crumbs. Set aside for last step.
Make the Cake Batter

Cream butter and sugar
In a large bowl, using electric mixer or food processor, cream together 1 stick of butter and brown sugar until light and fluffy.

Add eggs
Add the eggs, one at a time, beating after the addition of each.

Sift dry ingredients
In a separate bowl, sift together the flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.

Combine wet and dry
Add dry mix into the egg mixture, a cup at a time, alternating with the sour cream and vanilla.

Fold in apples
Fold in the apples.
Bake and Finish

Pour batter
Pour into the prepared baking dish, spreading out to the edges.

Add topping
Place the topping crumble around the top.

Bake until golden brown and set, 40-45 minutes.

Remove from the oven and let cool on a wire rack for at least 10 minutes.

Add glaze
Add the Caramel Glaze, drizzling it over the top surface of cake.
Cook's Notes
Some people increase the quantity of apples, just because. Others DOUBLE the crumble topping recipe because it's so delicious. For apples, use GALA or FUJI.
