Prepare the Dough

Mix dry ingredients
Combine 1/2 cup sugar, flour, and baking powder.

Form dough
Add egg and stir till dough forms.

Rest dough
Rest 30 minutes.
Prepare the Filling

Make sugar mixture
In a bowl, mix together 3 tablespoons sugar, brown sugar, and cinnamon.

Toss apples
Put apples in a bowl with lemon juice and toss.
Assemble and Bake

Prepare dish
Lightly butter a pie dish.

Layer ingredients
Divide quantities of apples, sugar mix, and butter into thirds mentally and place into pie dish one third of each at a time (9 layers total): apples, sugar, butter, apples, sugar, butter, apples, sugar, butter.

Add crust
Place the flattened dough on top as a crust and place in oven.

Cook 10 minutes at 450°F, then 45 minutes at 350°F.
