Instructions
- 1
Preheat air fryer
Preheat air fryer to 400°F for 5-6 minutes.
- 2
Prep the chops
Rinse and pat dry pork chops using paper towel. Brush oil on both sides using a silicone brush. Cover both sides with dry seasoning rub of choice. Gently pat the seasoning into the meat.
- 3
Arrange in air fryer
Place 2 pork chops on each air fryer tray. Do not stack the meat. When the air fryer is done preheating, place one tray on the top rack and the other tray on the middle rack.
- 4
Cook pork chops
Add the trays to the top and middle racks. They will need approximately 12 minutes to cook for bone-in chops of 1 inch thickness, flipping halfway through.
- 5
Flip and rotate
At the midway point (6 minutes), flip the pork chops and rotate the trays using tongs.
- 6
Check temperature
At 10 minutes, check the pork chops with a meat thermometer. For medium to well done chops, the internal temperature is 145-160°F. If not done, add it back to the air fryer until done.
- 7
Rest before serving
Remove pork chops and recheck the temperature. Let rest for 5 minutes before serving.
Cook's Notes
Works best with thinly cut chops, but thick will also work fine. Thin chops cook very quickly, so watch out. Cover meat with oil to keep it moist during cooking, massaging it into the meat before cooking. You can cook to 140°F internal, and it will continue to heat to 145°F outside the air fryer. Note: Oct. 16, 2023, article in The Kitchn studied each way to prepare pork chops and found that pan-frying was clearly the best way to get tasty, tender pork chops. All other methods had drawbacks.
