Instructions
- 1
Preheat
Preheat oven to 475°F or preheat air fryer to 400°F.
- 2
Prepare potatoes
Wash, scrub and pat dry the potatoes. Cut off quarter inch from each end.
- 3
Cut into fries
Stand potatoes upright and cut into vertical slices about 1/4 inch thick. Cut slices into fries.
- 4
Soak potatoes
Place fries in large bowl with very cold water about 1/2 inch above the potatoes. Let them soak at least 30 minutes.
- 5
Dry thoroughly
Rinse again under cold water. Transfer to a dishcloth on the counter and pat completely dry with another dishcloth.
- 6
Season fries
Place potatoes back into a dry bowl. Pour in 2 tablespoons of olive oil and all seasonings, and toss to coat evenly.
- 7
Air fry method
To use the air fryer, try stacking the fries in a 'tower' in the fry basket so that maximum surface of each fry is exposed to the hot air. Bake for 20-30 minutes, checking during the process to make sure they aren't burning.
- 8
Oven method
To use conventional oven, place fries onto a parchment-lined baking tray in a single layer, with separation between fries. Bake for 30-32 minutes.
- 9
Cool and serve
When cooked, remove from heat and allow to cool and crisp-up slightly.
Cook's Notes
For making these fries in a standard oven, bake at 475°F for 30 to 32 minutes.
